Afikim In Light of The Pandemic

Uncategorized. 06 Feb, 2022
Covid-19 has brought and still brings, new challenges like never before. The road and the struggle, that we experience, actually gave us a clearer view of our goal - supporting our clients’ independence. In light of the pandemic, it has become clear how important independence is, and how fragile it is, especially during lockdowns and constraints.

Dear Afikim’s family members, clients, partners and friends,

It has been two years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, a world pandemic that is still, as we face the 5th wave, challenging all of us.

Challenge #1 – Continuity of Production

Our first challenge is the continuity of production and improved quality.

As you may know, pre-Covid-19 we had a QA team in China. When the pandemic started, we brought our team back to Israel, as a precaution to their safety and wellbeing. After realizing that Covid-19 is yet to be over, we made a strategic decision to recruit a new team in China.

Challenge #2 – Shortage in Raw Materials

A greater challenge, brought by Covid-19, was and still is, the shortage in electric components. Like so many others, we also have suffered from this shortage and looked for solutions. We decided to focus our efforts is a worldwide “Missing Components” Hunt, and it proved itself to be very successful.

Challenge #3 – Increased Shipping Cost

But the biggest challenge of them all was shipping. As the price of parts and shipment sore to a ridiculous value, maritime shipping has struck infrastructural issues due to the increase in traffic that manifested in a shortage of slots open on ships.

Since we predict this tendency to continue, we decided to build a warehouse in China. This way, we can ensure on-time delivery of scooters to our customers worldwide.

Supporting Our Clients’ Independence

The road and the struggle, that we experience, actually gave us a clearer view of our goal – supporting our clients’ independence. In light of the pandemic, it has become clear how important independence is, and how fragile it is, especially during lockdowns and constraints. Those are the small things in life that make the difference: breath of fresh air, friends, family, and of course – mobility.

To meet our mission, we are planning to launch new products and services, that we believe will help improve our customers’ independence, wellbeing, and lifestyle.

I am grateful to each of you – partners, customers, dealers, and distributors – for all your effort this year and all that we have accomplished together – what can we say? It’s a ride.

I am looking forward with great confidence to our mutual success.

Wishing you all a happy New Year.

I don’t know how 2022 will unfold, but I’m good with uneventful 🙂
